Beginners Bridge
Whether you've never picked up playing cards or played bridge decades ago, this course builds your confidence and takes you to a basic player standard. Our goal is simple: equip you to join a bridge club, play on cruises, or enjoy bridge socially with friends.
Complete Beginners Welcome
The first session assumes zero knowledge – not even card suits or ranks. Come along to see if bridge appeals to you, with no commitment to continue if it's not your thing.
What You'll Learn
We'll work through the ACOL bidding system (used in UK) and go through the best way to play faced with different patterns of cards in your hand.
We will cover:
• Bidding using proper bidding boxes
• Scoring methods
• Bridge etiquette
• Tournament play using pre-dealt hands
Later sessions introduce Standard American Strong No-Trump, so you'll recognise it when you meet it or play with cruise ship partners or online bridge sites like BBO.
£10 joining, £1 to £2 a session + Room costs if any. Joining cost covers a book and handouts. Session fee covers the cost of the materials used, cards bidding boxes etc.
