Talk by Bruce Keith
Bridgescapes is a richly-illustrated journey through Scotland celebrating over 700 years of the country’s bridges and bridge-building heritage.
Examples span the centuries from the 14th century Brig o’ Balgownie, through the Wade, Telford and Rennie eras and the canal aqueducts and railway viaducts up to the elegant super-structures of the 20th and 21st centuries.
This is not an engineering talk, but rather examines the history and geography of this element of the built environment, with a strong perspective on the human-interest stories and a galaxy of home-grown civil engineers
There will be tea, coffee and biscuits after the talk.
